Three

You just turned three and you are quite the handful:

"I don't want to wear that shirt...it's not cool"

"Sorry doesn't make it right"

"You don't tell me what to do"

"I'm not your friend anymore"

If these are the things you're saying now, I'm scared of what you'll be saying when you're 15.

You love watching Spongebob, Dora, Lazy Town Sports Day, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
You can operate the TV and the DVD player all by yourself.

You love to play "tin tin tin" (sword fighting), Legos and toy fighting.

You love happy meals, but only because they have a toy.

You don't like long sleeves, tags on your shirts, or pants.

You like to put "cologne" (baby cologne) on.

You've got quite an attitude and you're not afraid to use it.

You love it when mom and dad read to you. Your favorite books are Mama, Goodnight Gorilla, Little Miss Fun, Pat the Bunny/Cat/Dog, Pinocchio, There was an Old Lady and Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late.

You love to eat eggs, cheese, marshmallows, lollipops, macaroni and cheese, vanilla ice cream and yogurt.

You love to drink water, green tea and "pink" milk (strawberry pediasure with milk).
You are a wonderful big brother.
You like to run around naked, or with your underwear on your head (it's your pirate hat).
You sleep with Pooh and your nightlight (you're afraid of the dark).
You love saying: "mommy you happy?...say yes".
You love your "wawa" (abuela/grandma).
You are my baby boy and I love you.
Happy Birthday!

Chirp chirp

Thanks for the support gals. I'm feeling better these days, but I haven't had the time or inclination to blog about anything, so my apologies for the sound of crickets chirping around here.

On the 7th, we went to our favorite photographer to have pictures of JJ taken. I'll post some of those soon.

On Friday, I took JJ to the pedi because he sounded very congested (CMan has been sick). I also wanted him to get weighed because I wanted to make sure he was getting enough milk (since he spits up ALOT). The doc said he's supposed to gain an ounce a day, so in the two weeks since he saw her last, he should have gained almost a pound. He weighed in at 9 lbs 4 oz (last time he weighed 7lbs 6oz) so he's gained almost two pounds! He's definitely getting enough. He does have reflux though, so she put him on Axid for two weeks. I hope it will help because my poor baby spits up alot after feedings no matter what position I put him in. He also makes faces as if he's in pain and wants to eat almost every hour and a half! Fortunately at night he tends to go 3 hours between feedings, otherwise I would go crazy. In two weeks he has a follow up appt with the pedi and he's also going to see the Cardiologist to make sure that his arrhythmia is all gone.

That's all for now.

I leave you with this tidbit of wisdom from CMan:

CMan: Mommy, you happy?
Me: Yes, dear.
CMan: I'm not a deer, I'm a boy.

Sadness and Tragedy

For a while there, I thought I'd managed to dodge the baby blues.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to avoid utter sadness due to some recent events.

On Aug 22, 2008, my Grandma, my Dad's mom (well, his aunt technically, but she raised him) passed away in her sleep. She was 107 1/2 years old. Fearing that this news would drive me into a full-blown depression (what, with the postpartumness and all) I was not informed of this until a week later. The news made me sad, but it was more comforting than anything. She lived a very long life and she is now in peace. When they first told me, I cried a little, but more because I felt sad for my dad. Now that it's had time to sink in, I cry because I think of the pleasant childhood memories I have of her. Te quiero mucho Mama Tey, te extra├▒are.

A couple of days ago, R and I were talking about H, his friend from college. He was telling me that she had a baby girl some months ago and was so happy. They made plans to get together soon so we could see her baby and she could meet ours. This morning I was brought to tears by a phone call from Ren. He told me that H's baby had died of SIDS. My heart hurts for her and I can't even begin to imagine what she is going through. Just last night I was reading an article on SIDS in Parenting magazine. It scared me and forced me to make sure that JJ was on his back. Who knew it would hit close to home in a matter of hours.

I am sad today. Sad that my grandma is gone, sad for my dad, sad for H, sad for the baby she will never see grow up.

I've been hugging my little baby a bit tighter today.
