Fetal Echo

The appointment with the Pediatric Cardiologist was yesterday. He did a fetal echo and the heart looked great as well as the beats. I explained that in the OB office the heart had skipped a beat a couple of times. Once he left the probe on for a little while, the arrhythmia started again and we were able to see the irregular heartbeats on the screen. It's one thing to hear them, it's another thing to see the little heart take a pause. Scary. The doc said that structurally, the heart looked fine, and that the arrhythmia should go away by itself, but that 1% of the cases where the heart skips a beat turn into the heart skipping 3 beats and that is when it is treated (with medication). He said he would see me again in 4 weeks to continue to monitor it. He will also examine the baby when he is born to make sure all is OK.

wow, i am not sure what to say other than it sounds like the rate of problems is pretty low but of course low is not good enough. I am really glad you are being taken care of by the specialists though. I am thinking of you!

What she said — I'm sure you are in the 99 percent where nothing happens!
