Jordan aka Mr. Punchykittyclaws

The other night I got punched in my sleep. There is none other to blame for that sudden onslaught of mid-slumber violence than my dear boy Jordan. He is in my bed more often than not and his sleep is a little restless. Although, he's not much better in the day time. He likes to bite my face, my finger and my shoulder.
He likes to touch/punch/swat at my face, but he does it really quickly like an angry cat, a spiteful, angry cat. I tell R that Jordan's affections are a mixture of a punch puppet and Mr. kittyclaws because his little nails are super sharp.

Ah my darling 13 month old, how I love you so despite your repeated attacks.

This morning he said his 5th word! I was telling Chris about how many days were left until we went to Disney and then JJ said "DINEY". I was cracking up and R was rolling his eyes and thinking the brainwashing begins so early (in the womb to be exact...I think JJ went to Disney twice before he was even born). Other than saying dada, gogo, mama, agua and Diney, he does a whole lotta babbling. Unfortunately only he knows what he's saying. It's pretty funny because he even adds the question intonation at the end. It sounds a little something like this: DabalamawafamatobolonocotuTUU??

His top right tooth is finally emerging, so that makes 6 teeth total. He's still cruising around by holding on to furniture and is just now transferring from one piece of furniture to another. I think he's saving his first time walking for "Diney" too (it's a family thing, that's where my brother took his first steps...Tomorrowland to be exact, by the race cars)! Probably not though because he's too much of a scaredy cat to let go.

What he lacks in upward mobility though, he makes up for in speed crawling. He goes up and down and all around the house chasing after Christian. Unfortunately this has led to several instances where he busted his lip because his body went faster than his hands. He also does this funny thing where he sits and maneuvers his legs to turn himself in a circle over and over again. It's pretty funny and I hope I can catch it on video soon because it's hard to explain and funny to witness.

Jordan loves his big brother Christian and thankfully the feeling is mutual...for now. Chris loves playing with his brother and actually shares his toys with him peacefully. He tells me that he loves his brother and he hugs him all the time. Sometimes a little too tight and a little too much neck hugging action, but other than that, it's super cute. I wonder how much longer this will last...

That is my update for now on Mr. punchykittyclaws. This Sunday is Christian's actual birthday and we're off to see the mouse! Wish me luck, good weather, no crowds and short lines...alright stop laughing, what can I say, it's wishful thinking.

G.I. Jordan

Jordan is 8 months old today!

To celebrate we took him to the G.I. doctor due to several ongoing concerns of mine:

1. Does not like baby food one bit. On a good day, he eats 3 spoonfuls. On a bad day, he screams when he sees it.
2. Green poop (he does not eat any green food).
3. Not sleeping through the night.
4. Heart shaped tongue (tongue-tied?).

The verdict?

1. He weighed in at 18+ lbs. and measured 27.5 inches (37% and 50%) so he's not starving. The doc says we need to give him baby food and if he doesn't want it, try again in half an hour and keep doing that until it's time for his next feeding. In other words, don't be so quick to give him the bottle if he refuses the food because he is manipulating us. If I say no to food, they give me bottle/boob. He said he should be eating breakfast, lunch, dinner (a whole jar of the big baby food...HA!) and milk bottles of 6-8 oz (with cereal) (18 oz a day is fine) and eating every 4 or 5 hours.
2. Green poop is OK sometimes. Will do poop culture to make sure there isn't any bad stuff in it.

3. Need to cut out the boob...and do a cry it out...and not put him in our bed (easier said than done buddy). If he has his bottle with cereal at 11pm, he should be fine until 6am. Any crying before that is due to bad habit and not hunger.

4. Tongue is prob not the reason he won't eat. Will do an upper G.I. to make sure the rest of his swallowing/eating anatomy is OK.

Fun times ahead huh?

In other news, his two bottom teeth are showing really well now, so I was able to photograph them. They came out approx 2 or 3 weeks ago. Check it out!

Oy, I forgot the Easter photos! Next time, oh and I also have to remember to tell you about Christian's swimming class fiasco. Let's just say it's very similar to the first time I took him to swim class.

Speaking of balls (updated)

The ball pit training lessons have begun! OK, not really, but knowing Cman and his fear of all things new, a little ball pit training won't hurt. If he freaks out with the bounce house, then I can imagine what will happen when he meets his first ball-pit. At first he wouldn't even get in the quasi-ball pit I created, but I have now managed to demystify the whole thing and he actually wants to get in and play with his the balls.

I guess this will be an update post of sorts since I haven't really done one recently. I update y'all on his vocabulary once in a while, but I noticed that I have been forgetting to update you on his sign language all along. Doh! He knows and does the signs for eat (hungry), bath, and cookie. Perhaps if I were a little more consistent with it he'd learn more of them, but I always forget to do them, so there goes that. He also likes to whisper now. My mom has conversations with him in whisper tone which consist of him saying the words that he uses the most, one right after the other, "dada, mama, papa, agua" in a very soft voice. It's so cute. He also finally learned how to use a straw. I say finally because a while ago, I showed great surprise when I saw Izabella drinking from a straw. I was instantly mocked and informed that it's pretty commonplace for 9 month-olds to know how to use a straw (then why do the packages of sippy cups with straws say for ages 2+ huh? huh? huh?). News to me. Anyway, I think it was the taste of the McDonald's St.Patty's milkshake that did the trick. He's a pro with the straw now. He's very good at doing puzzles and has been doing them since I got him an animal one in March, although sometimes he gets pissed off when the piece doesn't go in as quickly as he would like it to and he throws the puzzle and all the pieces in anger (a bit of a temper?). He's eating his solid food like a champ now, but I feed it to him because when I was putting it on the tray for him to feed himself, he would ignore it or throw it on the floor. It takes him an hour to eat a small bowl of food (yes, with me feeding it to him). I think it will get better though because it seems that all four of his bottom molars (or whatever teeth come after the front bottom four) are coming out at the same time. This is making him very drooly and frustrated at times, but hopefully he will eat faster now. Maybe we can cut our feeding time to 45 minutes!? I just hope the let's bite mommy phase doesn't come back.
