J is for jinx and M is for meme

I find that all I have to do to jinx something is to blog about it. So of course since I said the breastfeeding strike was short lived, it reared it's ugly head again. My little man is apparently still having issues switching back and forth between boob and bottle. I don't know how to fix it so it's driving me crazy. He thinks he's a newborn too because he was up every two hours to eat last night. I guess he didn't get the memo that he will be four months old on Saturday and should not be getting up so often. Hopefully, the doc will give him cereal at his appointment on Tuesday.

In other news, Amanda tagged me with a meme a while ago, but I am forgetful, so here goes:

The rules:
1. Post the rules on your blog.
2. Tell 7 random things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post.
4. Pass on the tag.

Thing 1: I pumped in the car on my way home yesterday. I was praying that I wouldn't get into an accident because how the heck do you explain that. Um sorry officer, what? Oh, these things? Um. It's a breast pump. Yeeeeah.

Thing 2: After reading Claudia's adventures, I want to take trapeze lessons. I think I may do it with Jenny when she comes to town in about 5 days (Jenny-Claus is coming to town). The fact that I'm afraid of heights is only slightly complicating this desire. Anyone that wants to come-with is free to join.

Thing 3: Thing 1 and Thing 2 are part of a Dr. Seuss book. I know, this is not about me, but I couldn't help it.

Thing 4: I am experiencing Christmas mayhem. I have only wrapped three presents so far. I think we got CMan way too many presents this year. My tree is also dying. I have the worst tree luck.

Thing 5: I am going to Disney the first week of January. Yes, if you are keeping count that means I have gone to the Orlando area four times in a span of one year. I should just buck up and buy the annual pass.

Thing 6: I think I've said this before, but Christmas songs make me cry. I guess I'm just too sentimental. I've been listening to 93.9 on the radio on my drive to and from work these days. They play 100% Christmas music during this time of year. I've been doing alot of crying on my commute these days. That, and the breast pump flanges attached to me, make a pretty interesting sight.

Thing 7: I've been to the movies two times this year (Indiana Jones and Get Smart). That is a very very sad fact because I love going to the movies. I want to go see Australia (both the movie and the continent).

I am not tagging 7 people because I don't think that many people even read this blog.

1 and 4

Here are the answers to my 6 lies and 2 truths game:

1. I mooned the entire class in elementary school: True. I was in first grade and dared a boy to do it. He said he'd do it if I did it too. He didn't get caught by the teacher. I did.

2. I failed my driving test the first time I took it. False. I passed the written one and didn't have to take the driving one because I had done so in Driver's Ed.

3. I want another dog, but Ren won't let me get one. False. Two is more than enough.

4. I ate so many sour candies that I made my tongue bleed. True. I love Cry Babies, who knew that if you eat too many of them your tongue will crack...and bleed.

5. The most piercings I've had on my body at one time is 7. False. This was kind of like a trick question; I've had 8. Three on one ear, five on the other, during my grunge days.

6. My favorite fruit is strawberry (with chocolate on top of course). False. Mango is my favorite fruit.

7. I dyed my hair red once, but it looked so horrible that I dyed it brown immediately afterwards. False. I've never had a dye job that I consider so horrible that I've had to dye it again right afterwards.

8. I fell from the monkey bars when I was young and had to get stitches. False. No stitches for me...not yet anyway.

It looks like Emma came the closest since she got one right. Thanks for playing girls!

8 secrets/things I haven't blogged about

I was tagged by Elizasmom a little while back, so it's meme time. I guess mine will be more of a eight things I haven't blogged about theme because obviously if I wrote about my secrets...well, then they wouldn't be secrets. This also means I can squish in a bunch of unrelated things that I've been meaning to blog about (but have been too busy to do so) all in one post. Ha ha I'm tricky like that!

OK, so here we go in a completely random order:

1. This year, when we go to El Salvador for the holidays, I will be flying over there with Christian, all by myself. My mom will be heading over on the 24th, and I will be leaving on the 27th (Ren has to stay and work). This terrorizes me to no end. I am fearful about how I am going to handle luggage, stroller, carryons, tickets, security checks, and toddler all at once. I decided to get one of those little child harnesses so that CMan could walk around if he got sick of the stroller. R was totally against it, but unless you've seen the video of the break dancer that kicks a toddler 5 feet in the air, you cannot fully appreciate the need to have your children next to you at all times (especially in crowded places). The speed at which these children can break away from your hand and run off is quite scary. Anyway, so I got one of those cute little monkey backpacks hoping that he would like it and be excited to wear a backpack. No such luck. I can't even get him to put one arm through it, much less buckle the thing up. I have about 31 days left to convince him, so we'll see how this goes. This past weekend, we saw 3 little boys with the monkey back packs on. I made sure to point out all three of them to Cman.

2. We went to Andrew and Rebeka's pirate party at the Children's museum a couple of weeks back. Cman had a great time playing with his friends on the playground, sitting on a bike, dancing with a hula hoop and exploring the museum. Happy Collective Birthday to the Mejia family (they are all in November)! Oh, and I actually got him to wear the pirate hat on more than one occasion!

3. We went to the harvest two weeks ago and I bought myself a cute quilt with a gingerbread man on it and some yummy dip mixes. We went to the historical village and hung out with some Pirates from the Florida Keys (Pop quiz: do you recognize any of those people from somewhere else?). Cman loved the cannon and I had quite a hard time pulling him away from it when it was time to leave.

4. Later that day we went to Gianna's (CMan's niece) first birthday party. Chris had a great time playing with the "boons". They had a cotton candy machine and face painting, but he didn't want anything to do with either of those activities.

5. I don't believe I've showed you the pictures from his last photo session (and his Halloween costume), so let me share now for a bit:

6. Mr. Cman surprised me in the car the other day. He and I usually count things together so that he can learn his numbers. He's never really counted by himself (he always wants me to do it and he repeats), so the other day we were driving around and he started talking in the backseat saying "one"...."one"...."one"...he kept saying it over because he wanted me to repeat, so I said "one" then he said "two" and I said "two" and we kept going like that until he got to number 10. I was quite impressed thinking wow...he can count to 10...news to me! Then I hear this from the back seat... "eleden"...and I go "eleven"....and he kept counting until 15. That daycare lady sure is teaching him alot because he and I usually don't count more than 10 things. I decided to say "sixteen" to see if he could go further and he did...all the way to 19. I had to say 20 for him; perhaps that's as high as they've taught him. He also knows all of his letters now. He can point to a letter and tell you what letter it is and/or you can ask him for a certain letter and he will give it to you. He also knows what sound most of the letters make.

7. I found this little tidbit online the other day. This was a pep-rally at my high school. Unfortunately it happened 2 or 3 years after I had already graduated. Needless to say I would've loved to have seen this in person:

8. The holiday shopping has begun! Amanda and I went shopping on black Friday and spent way too much money. I got some presents for Chris (aka the most spoiled boy in the universe...aka TMSBIU) and about 60 DVD's (yes, that is not a typo) for about $3.81 each. I've got quite a collection going...pretty soon, I'll have to start renting them out to people.

It appears that I have run out of numbers and I still have more to share, so I'm off to write my next post!

*UPDATED* OY! I forgot to tag someone! Here you go Amanda, I know you had some stuff you needed to blog about. Ha ha.

Bag Lady

A little while ago Tere asked "What's in your purse?".

Well, I'm just getting to it now, so here it goes.

Here is the purse...

...and here are the contents:

You're lucky I was carrying my smaller purse, otherwise I might have needed to take several pictures in order to capture all the junk I carry in there.

OK let's dig into this puppy and see what's there:

Eyeglasses case: I like to use them for night driving and watching movies. The actual glasses may or may not be in that case. I'm special like that.

Extra large rubber band: I've been meaning to put that on Christian's toy box in the car. I don't want the lid flying all over the place.

Napkin: I carry this napkin as a color sample in case I see stuff for CMan's birthday party. I want to make sure whatever I buy coordinates with the rest of the tableware that I've chosen.

My keys from work: No, I don't work at Fleet..it's just a key chain.

Scrunchy: I have my hair up 90% of the time.

Checkbook: must pay the bills!

Phone: very important. This is the cheapest, plainest phone available. This phone does not take pictures or do tricks of any kind (well, it plays dead sometimes).

Various receipts: Halloween season is approaching, so as you can see, I've done alot of shopping at Michael's recently.

Sunglasses and case: notice the sunglasses are not in their case (black case). They are both independently floating around in my purse.

Crystal light drink mix: I've been meaning to drink this, but I keep forgetting...it's going to grow legs soon and walk out of my bag.

Airborne on the go powder mix: In case I'm feeling icky.

Car registration papers: that reminds me, I need to renew my registration.

Hair clip: see "Scrunchy" above

Crybaby candy: I love sour candy. One time I ate so many of these that my tongue bled. Masochist. I think the sourness quality of these has declined though (perhaps to keep fools like me from bleeding).

Pen: you never know when you'll need one (this is never in my purse when I need it though).

Wallet: stuffed with more receipts. I have a bit of a hoarding problem.

Computer disks: I was transferring some of Cmans pictures to my computer at home.

iPod and ear bud speaker thingy: the ear buds are floating around because I disconnect them to connect the iPod in my car. I love this toy. I use it when I go to the gym, but I still haven't made any playlists for the gym, so sometimes I end up listening to the Sound of Music when I'm on the elliptical machine. Yesterday I worked out to Thriller...figures huh.

Michael's flyer and coupon: like I said...I've been spending lots of time there. I think the cashiers know me by name now.

That's all I have for you folks, I'm glad I didn't get caught doing this meme on a day when compromising things were in my purse..ha ha.

So what's in your purse? leave a comment if you do this meme.

Friday meme

I got tagged by Elizasmom! I think I've done this one before, but since I don't remember (and don't feel like looking it up), I will do it again.

INSTRUCTIONS: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so.

1) Doggy Mama
2) Eve
3) Sarah
4) Elizasmom
5) Claudia's Spaceship

Next select five people to tag: hm...I don't think I even know five people w/blogs (that haven't been tagged that also read this blog on a regular basis).

1) Amanda - HAPPY GRADUATION!
2) Lilli
3) Little Ladybug's Garden
4) Ayleen (you can answer on the Girls blog)
5) My Life

OK, so maybe I do know five people, but that was kind of close there. If they would've asked for six, I'da been in trouble.

What were you doing 10 years ago?
May 11, 1997: I was working at the medical school in the file room.
(sung to I've been working on the railroad)
I've been working in the file room...all the live long day.
I've been working in the file room, getting 20 paper-cuts per day!

I hadn't met my future hubby f2f yet, but was about to do so in a couple of weeks.

What were you doing 1 year ago?
May 11, 2006 I was posting this other meme that no-one responded to Hrmph! Perhaps someone will play along this time (aherm...hint hint cough cough). I was wanting to go see an American Haunting (which I just realized that I never actually saw). I was excited about the new pirates movie that was coming out (as I am now as well). I also wanted to see the DaVinci code, fortunately I finally got to see it...around January this year I think. I was also getting ready to go on my girl's only trip to New York and was quite excited about that. Christian was recuperating from an ear infection and he was teething too.

Five snacks you enjoy:
1) Cheesy chips of any kind
2) Ice cream sandwiches
3) NACHOS
4) cookies and milk
5) sugary cereal with milk

Five songs that you know all the lyrics to:
Wow, this one's kind of hard because i know the lyrics to ALOT of songs, but only when they are playing. I don't think I know the lyrics to any song without hearing the song being played at the same time....well, except for Old Macdonald or something. Here are a couple of favorite songs that I really love to belt out and sing really loudly. I've had enough complaints about my singing though, so I refrain from exposing others to that special kind of torture now and only sing when I'm alone in the car.

1) Volver a nacer by Chayanne (or almost any song by him for that matter)
2) Jealous Fellows by Dimples T.
3) Black by Pearl Jam (or almost any other song by Pearl Jam for that matter)
4) Bust a move by Young MC
5) Con te partiro by Andrea Bocelli (yes I realize it's in Italian...I know the words, I just don't know what they mean).

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
Travel
Pay off our debts
Travel
Buy bigger house and one for our parents very close by so they can babysit while we...
Travel some more
Extreme makeover - I would get to meet my three favorite friends: liposuction, tummy tuck and boob job!

Five bad habits:
1) I pick at my nails (I don't bite them super short though) - I too cannot make it out of a nail place without destroying a manicure.
2) Splitting my split ends apart
3) Picking at scabs and any other things that may appear on my skin (peeling sun burn, rash, pimple, etc). I'm really surprised I don't have any pock marks or scars on my face.
4) Letting my burps escape when they want to(R hates this even though I tell him that I can't help it) - the thing is I can't burp on command, so I have to let them out when they want to come out otherwise I will be very uncomfortable...or they'll come out the other end.
5) Lane surfing

Five things you like doing:
1) Scrapbooking - I like it when my friends and I can get together to scrap because then we can see each other's albums and get ideas and constructive feedback from each other.
2) Listening to music - my iPod in the car and Pandora at work. At home I usually don't listen to my music because I'm with Cman and I don't want to traumatize him with some of my selections.
3) Internet - love to poke around and find new things and I love to read blogs...that blog roll on the right is not even a fraction of all the ones I try to read (I should really try to update it).
4) Movies - I love going to the movies, unfortunately I don't get to do that too often now.
5) Eating - This is quite apparent. This is the reason the snack question above was difficult (to narrow down). This is the reason I need my extreme makeover and this is the reason for 3 out of the 5 things in the next question.

Five things you would never wear again:
1) Mini skirt
2) Short shorts
3) Christmas tree costume
4) My hair in a side ponytail
5) A bikini - (or any kind of bathing suit at this point...well, ok, maybe one of these). Because I can't, not because I don't want to, but once I become a millionaire and get my extreme makeover, then we'll see.

Five favorite toys:
1) The Rabb...oh you didn't mean those kinds of toys...um...ok...in that case...
2) iPod
3) Digital camera
4) Video camera
5) Portable DVD player
